How to deal with sore gums - THE dentist, Salisbury

Advice for what to do when you have a sore gum

24th May 2020

If you have an ulcer or a sore bit of gum, it usually disappears with time.

Particularly at the moment, ulcers are caused by stress, so this is possibly a time where you might get a lot of ulcers.

Things like warm salty mouth rinse or Corsodyl mouthwash will help. We don’t recommend use of corsodyl for more than 7-10 days as it will stain your teeth! But that’s something Sally can sort out for you when we get back!

Otherwise use Bonjela or Iglu. You can also purchase Corsodyl gel over the counter at the pharmacy and that is really helpful for sore gums or ulcers.

If there is a patch that doesn’t resolve within 2 weeks, give us a call and we will have chat with you.
